QR Campaign for Business Travelers
October 20, 2010A lot of people question the validity of QR codes. I completely understand their tendency to dismiss it, they are ugly and they are usually associated with some kind of marketing campaign. From my perspective, as a marketer and researcher, I see them as being a great alternative to traditional brochures and business cards. Instead of handing out wasteful bits of paper, ask people to use the QRC reader on their phone. They then have the information they need and you don’t have to worry about it falling into the rubbish bin before they get a chance to use it.
I recently came across another good example of a QR code and my other favorite, Branded Utility, in an advertising campaign by TDA in Denver, Colorado for FirstBank.
By using their phone’s QRC reader to upload the information in the code, travelers in Denver International Airport can get free books, crossword or Sudoku puzzles on their mobile device. I’m not sure how strategically sound it is when you’re trying to advertise a banking service, but it is a nice way to generate some warm fuzzies with your target market.
